Maplecort Subdivision

Barrie, Ontario

This subdivision accommodating over 300 homes had to be fitted into a site with several environmental storm water management issues. Our firm, as part of an interdisciplinary team, developed a redesign for an existing cold-water stream and a number of retention and detention ponds.

Two community park spaces were also designed into the overall open space system for the neighbourhood. The trail head of an interpretative trail system was integrated into the open spaces. An existing wetland has been made more accessible via a viewing platform and walkways. Street trees, fences and entrance gates were also designed for this new South-Barrie neighbourhood.
