Intermediate Landscape Architect/Designer

Position:

Stefan Bolliger Associates Inc. is seeking to fill a permanent position of Intermediate Landscape Architect/Designer.

SBA Inc. was established in 1975 in Toronto and relocated to Barrie in 1983. We complete a wide variety of creative projects in government and the private sector throughout southern and central Ontario.

We are looking for a self-motivated, committed, curious Landscape Architect / Designer with well established design and technical skills (2-5 years experience). You can expect to be contributing to all aspects of projects relating to site inspections and assessments, site restoration, downtown and waterfront revitalization, landscape planning and design for subdivisions and new communities, and many other exciting projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all phases of projects, from proposal submission to sign-off;
  • Prepare site plans, specifications, tender ready drawings, contract drawings and cost estimates;
  • Perform industry related research;
  • Select appropriate materials for use in landscape designs;
  • Analyze environmental reports on land conditions, conduct site inspections and construction inspections;
  • Complete tree inventories, removal and retention plans and reports
  • Complete site inspections/analyses, nursery inspections and construction inspections and produce associated reports with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Attend, participate in, and/or lead progress meetings with firm team as well as all other stakeholders as per project requirements;
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings, public consultations and presentations;
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, reports and other documentation.

Requirements:

  • BLA or MLA University Degree, Diploma in Landscape Design or equivalent;
  • 2-5 years experience in a landscape architectural firm;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite and Photoshop;
  • Full member of the OALA, or Associate member currently pursuing full membership or equivalent;
  • ISA Certification preferred;
  • Well-organized, independent work habits with the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks;
  • Good knowledge of the municipal approval process;
  • Experience in preparing site plans, tender packages and technical specifications;
  • Ability to execute working drawings and produce construction details;
  • Willing and able to complete site assessments and site inspections;
  • High level of 3D rendering skills an asset;
  • Thorough knowledge of Conservation Authority regulations, city standards and all other applicable regulations;
  • Cooperative nature, excellent multi-tasker, willing to adapt;
  • Valid G drivers licence and reliable transportation.

Junior Landscape Architect/Designer

We are looking for a self-motivated, committed, curious Junior Landscape Technician who is actively pursuing a BLA or Diploma in Landscape Design. Our firm assists clients with a broad range of projects relating to site inspections and assessments, site restoration, downtown and waterfront revitalization, landscape planning and design for subdivisions and new communities, and many other exciting projects.


Responsibilities:

As a Junior Landscape Designer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to assist the design team throughout the design process. Working under senior level staff, you will be involved in:

  • Site inventories and assessments;
  • Creation of base plans and landscape plans;
  • Assisting with cost estimates and specifications; 
  • Conduct site specific research pertaining to city zoning bylaws
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports;
  • Administrative tasks including answering phone calls and emails, creating proposals and preparing presentations;
  • Other tasks as needed

Requirements:

  • BLA, Diploma in Landscape Design or equivalent;
  • 1-year previous experience in a professional office;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite and Photoshop;
  • Well-organized, independent work habits with the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks;
  • Willing and able to assist in completion of site assessments and site inspections;
  • Willingness to research municipal and other government standards and requirements;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Cooperative nature, excellent multi-tasker, willing to adapt;
  • Valid drivers licence is an asset.
